CharIN and PNME form strategic partnership to advance electric mobility in Brazil

The collaboration between the Charging Interface Initiative e.V. (CharIN) and the Plataforma Nacional de Mobilidade Elétrica (PNME) signifies a powerful alliance that will drive positive change and innovation in Brazil’s mobility landscape to strengthen collaboration and accelerate the deployment of electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Brazil.

The Charging Interface Initiative (CharIN) and the Plataforma Nacional de Mobilidade Elétrica (PNME) have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a pivotal moment in international collaboration to accelerate the growth of electric mobility in Brazil.

Through this partnership, CharIN and PNME will collaborate on various initiatives, including information exchange, technical training, and promoting ISO 15118, the international standard for charging communication protocols, aimed at advancing charging infrastructure in Brazil.

CharIN, boasting a network of over 300 members spanning the entire EV charging value chain, is committed to the implementation of the Combined Charging System (CCS) and the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). The association's vision is to establish CCS and MCS as the global standard for charging all types of electric vehicles, ensuring reliability and user satisfaction.

"We are excited to join forces with PNME in our mission to drive electric mobility forward in Brazil. This collaboration will enable us to leverage our expertise and resources to accelerate the development of charging infrastructure, ultimately benefiting consumers and the environment."
Claas Bracklo, CharIN Chairman

PNME brings together more than 30 institutions, including governmental bodies, agencies, industry, academia, and civil society. These "pioneering institutions" continuously expand their membership and partnerships, ensuring PNME's flexibility and a steady flow of skills needed to address complex environmental, social, economic, and technological challenges. The PNME aims to foster and stimulate the entire Brazilian electric mobility ecosystem, propose public policy and regulatory instruments, enhance the financing of high-impact projects, integrate partners, and contribute to the development of research and development (R&D) capabilities.

“CharIN and PNME will acquire new capabilities together in a complex and relevant ecosystem. In the Brazilian electric mobility ecosystem a vast volume of opportunities, and only the actors, working integrated, will capture the best ones”
Janayna Bhering Cardoso, executive coordinator of PNME

This strategic partnership between CharIN and PNME marks a significant step towards advancing electric mobility in Brazil and beyond.
