New Sustainable Transport Forum Sub-Groups: HDV Infrastructure and PKI Ecosystem Management

Our advisory role towards the European Commission has grown further. We are delighted to announce our membership in the two new Sustainable Transport Forum Sub-Groups on heavy-duty vehicles (HDV) infrastructure and Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) ecosystem management.

The European Commission has created two new Sub-Groups within the scope of its Sustainable Transport Forum (DG MOVE) and in light of inter alia the ambitions of the Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR) to guarantee a European (and beyond) roll-out of e-mobility.

The Sub-Group on recharging and refueling infrastructure for HDVs will assist the Commission in developing recommendations on the planning, deployment, and operation of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles (buses, coaches, and trucks) and corresponding infrastructure, particularly along the TEN-T network and urban nodes.

The Sub-Group on the PKI ecosystem management will assist the Commission in setting up and operating the EU PKI ecosystem for e-mobility under a single European Certificate Trust List. The body shall contribute to setting relevant technical procedures, operational rules, and requirements to ensure the interoperability of Plug&Charge services over time, as well as to establish and maintain the technical and operational structures that govern the ecosystem.

"Our appointment is a tribute to our long-standing relations with EU decision-making bodies and the expertise that CharIN brings together. It is of paramount importance that regulation and technology work in tandem, and we therefore highly appreciate the steps the European Commission has taken."
